"VY Canis Majoris is a red hypergiant near the Great Dog’s tail. Possibly the largest star in the Milky Way, it has a volume equal to 3 billion Suns. The crimson glow is due to extreme infrared radiation, which is dramatically reflected in a nearby nebula."
