Eris is the 28th Celestial Body and the 4th Dwarf Planet obtained in The Beyond Bubble Universe, which can generate Stardust. (Unlocked at Rank 11, branching off of Makemake)

In-Game Description[]

"One of the largest dwarf planets in our solar system and the farthest from the Sun, Eris is named for the Greek goddess of discord and strife. A day on Eris is about the same length as a day on Earth."

Traits[]

Common[]

  • Massive Dwarf (Speed):

"Eris has the greatest mass of any dwarf planet in our solar system. Despite this, it’s slightly smaller than Pluto, making it the second-largest known object in the Kuiper Belt."

  • Orbital Inclination (Payout):

"Eris wasn't discovered until the early 21st century because its orbit doesn't follow the same plane as most planets in the solar system. Astronomers might have found it sooner if they had adjusted their telescopes to look off the beaten path."

Rare[]

  • Hydrostatic Equilibrium (Payout):

"A balance of opposing forces, including gravity and centrifugal force, prevent dwarf planets from either imploding or exploding. This is how they maintain a spherical or ellipsoid shape."

Epic[]

  • Speed of Light (Speed):

"The speed of light is the rate at which light and all massless particles travel through a vacuum. While it can seem instantaneous from up close, over long distances this speed limit becomes very noticeable. The theory of relativity relates to the speed of light."

  • Cosmic Gravity (Payout):

"Gravity is one of the fundamental forces and key to understanding how the universe works. Using Newton’s principles, astronomers can explain how stars and planets form, predict their mass and motion, and infer the existence of dark matter."

  • Goldilocks Zone (Discount):

"The Goldilocks Zone, also called the Habitable Zone, is the region around a star with conditions necessary for a planet that can sustain life. Planets like Earth, with surface water and breathable atmospheres, might be found in these zones in other systems."

Constellations[]

  • Scorpio (1.5x Speed):

"One of the brightest constellations in the sky, Scorpio represents a scorpion. It includes the red star Antares, sometimes called the “heart of the scorpion” because of its placement and color."

  • Sagittarius (2x Speed):

"Sagittarius, the archer, is usually represented by an image of a centaur aiming a bow and arrow. The galactic center of the Milky Way is located in Sagittarius, and the constellation contains many star clusters and nebulae."

Satellite[]

Eris has one natural satellite, Dysnomia. This moon is not present in the game.

Achievements[]

Achievement Eris
  • Bringer of Chaos (Rank 5):

"Eris is nearly the same size as Pluto. Its discovery, combined with that of Makemake and Haumea, led to Pluto’s eventual demotion to dwarf planet status in 2006. This was also when the category of “dwarf planet” was first established."

  • Long, Cold Night (Rank 8):

"Eris is so far from the sun, and so shrouded in darkness, that sometimes its atmosphere can freeze. The dwarf planet thaws as it approaches the sun, but its orbit takes hundreds of years, so it spends most of the time frozen and dark."
