Io is the 11th Celestial Body and the 2nd Moon obtained in The Beyond Bubble Universe, which can generate Stardust. (Unlocked at Rank 5, branching off of Jupiter)

In-Game Description[]

"Io is a rocky, icy moon with intense geological activity. It has active volcanoes that belch plumes of sulfur, mountains taller than any found on Earth, and lava flows that turn the moon's surface yellow."

Traits[]

Common[]

  • Sulfur Plains (Speed):

"Io's bright yellow color is due to the large icy plains, primarily composed of sulfur, that cover its surface. Some of this sulfur may have been produced in volcanic eruptions."

  • Volcanic Mountains (Payout):

"The gravity of Jupiter and the other Galilean moons pulls on Io in different directions, causing internal friction. The result is extreme geological activity. The turmoil of Io’s interior has created many active volcanoes on the moon’s surface."

Rare[]

  • Natural Satellites (Payout):

"Moons are defined by their orbit around larger celestial bodies. Most moons revolve around a planet, but smaller bodies can have moons, too—even particularly large asteroids."

Epic[]

  • Speed of Light (Speed):

"The speed of light is the rate at which light and all massless particles travel through a vacuum. While it can seem instantaneous from up close, over long distances this speed limit becomes very noticeable. The theory of relativity relates to the speed of light."

  • Cosmic Gravity (Payout):

"Gravity is one of the fundamental forces and key to understanding how the universe works. Using Newton’s principles, astronomers can explain how stars and planets form, predict their mass and motion, and infer the existence of dark matter."

  • Goldilocks Zone (Discount):

"The Goldilocks Zone, also called the Habitable Zone, is the region around a star with conditions necessary for a planet that can sustain life. Planets like Earth, with surface water and breathable atmospheres, might be found in these zones in other systems."

Constellations[]

  • Scorpio (1.5x Speed):

"One of the brightest constellations in the sky, Scorpio represents a scorpion. It includes the red star Antares, sometimes called the “heart of the scorpion” because of its placement and color."

  • Libra (2x Speed):

"Libra represents a pair of weighing scales. Its appearance begins the autumnal equinox, when day and night are equal lengths. Libra is home to the star system Gliese 581, considered one of the best candidates for life on other planets."

Host Planet[]

Io's planetary host is Jupiter.

Achievements[]

Achievement Io
  • Ionized Io (Rank 5):

"Io’s orbit brings it into Jupiter’s magnetic field. This process ionizes the moon, giving its atoms a negative charge and creating auroras in Jupiter’s upper atmosphere like the Northern Lights on Earth."

  • The Killing Moon (Rank 8):

"Io’s sulfur volcanoes and high radiation exposure make it a very dangerous place to explore. The moon’s hostile environment would likely kill any astronauts attempting to land there, so humans have no plans to visit any time soon."
