"Life leaves the ocean floor, and the journey begins."

Jellyfish is the 6th Life and the 2nd Ocean generator obtained in the Primary Simulation's Main Tree, which can generate Entropy EntropyEntropy. Jellyfish are several groups of simple, gelatinous eumetozoan animals in the subphylum Medusozoa in the phylum Cnidaria with bells and stinging tentacles.

Design[]

The jellyfish belongs in the Ocean habitat and has a single Trophy Animal - the Giant Squid.

Jellyfish[]

The jellyfish resembles a sea nettle (Chrysaora quinquecirrha) that is colored cornflower blue. It is the first movable generator in the ocean habitat and bounces around an invisible sphere wall, similar to the Primordial Soup habitat. When clicked on, the Jellyfish makes a whooshing sound in the water.

Description[]

"Jellyfish are soft-bodied, free-swimming aquatic animals with a gelatinous, umbrella-shaped body and long floating tentacles. They can propel themselves through water by pulsing their body."

Upgrades[]

Jellyfish has 7 upgrades, increasing the generator efficiency with a total x1.70496e11 multiplier.

Icon Name Description Cost Efficiency Requires
Jellyfish Cnidocytes Cnidocytes One of the first organic weapons, these are explosive cells that fire out a toxic harpoon for self-defense and hunting. EntropyEntropy 120,000 100% Jellyfish
Jellyfish Nervous System Nervous System The nervous system is a network of cells that sends stimuli through an organism's body in the form of electrical impulses. It is controlled by a central brain. EntropyEntropy 400,000 100% Tissue
Jellyfish Radial Symmetry Radial Symmetry Organisms that can be divided into identical pieces around a central point, this form of symmetry is more complex than bilateral symmetry. EntropyEntropy 400,000 200% Jellyfish
Jellyfish Swimming Swimming The simple act of swimming gave many organisms the ability to move from one location to another for the first time. EntropyEntropy 800,000 60% Muscles
Jellyfish Bioluminescence Bioluminescence Enzyme-catalyst reactions in their cells enable some creatures to emit light from their bodies. Organisms that can do this include some species of insects, jellyfish, and fungi. EntropyEntropy 3.02 E11 399900% Jellyfish
Research Level 4
Jellyfish Polyp Polyp Polyps are non-mobile, sea-dwelling creatures consisting of a tube with a mouth surrounded by tentacles. Some examples of polyps include coral and sea anemones. EntropyEntropy 1.05 E15 59900% Jellyfish
Research Level 9
Jellyfish Squishy Bodies Squishy Bodies Jelly is a broad term for sea animals with no bones or cartilage, including jellyfish and other creatures. As jellies dive and rise, their bodies balance rapid changes in water pressure by compressing and expanding. A downside to soft flesh is greater vulnerability to predators. Achievements[]

Icon Name Description Requires
Achievement Don't Be Jelly Don't Be Jelly Jellyfish have no brain, heart, bones, or eyes. They are invertebrates with a basic nervous system called a nerve net, which allows them to smell, detect light, and respond to other stimuli. 50 Jellyfish
Achievement Well Hydrated Well Hydrated Jellyfish are 95% water. 100 Jellyfish
Achievement Flight of the Jellyfish Flight of the Jellyfish 2,478 jellyfish polyps were launched into space aboard the space shuttle Columbia in 1991, where biologist Dorothy Spangenberg studied the effects of space flight on calcium loss in the animals. 250 Jellyfish
Achievement Perpetual Polyps Perpetual Polyps While most jellyfish have a lifespan ranging from a few months to a year, the species Turritopsis nutricula can reverse its lifecycle, transitioning between adult medusa and baby polyp at will, potentially allowing it to greatly increase its lifespan. 500 Jellyfish
Achievement A Cat and a Jellyfish Walk Into A Bar A Cat and a Jellyfish Walk Into A Bar Scientists at the Mayo Clinic injected GFP, a fluorescent green protein found in some jellyfish, into a cat's unfertilized eggs. This resulted in the kittens, when born, being immune to the feline AIDS virus... and also glowing green under ultraviolet light. 1000 Jellyfish

Trivia[]

  • Jellyfish are considered the first animals to drift off the ocean floor in the gameplay.
