Makemake is the 27th Celestial Body and the 3rd Dwarf Planet obtained in The Beyond Bubble Universe, which can generate Stardust. (Unlocked at Rank 11, branching off of Haumea)

In-Game Description[]

"Makemake is a cold dwarf planet found in the Kuiper Belt. It is the second brightest trans-Neptunian object after Pluto. It has a red surface and one orbiting moon."

Traits[]

Common[]

  • Hidden Planet (Speed):

"Makemake was bright enough to be spotted along with Pluto back in 1930, but went unnoticed until 2005. This is because it orbited close to the galactic core and was hidden in a dense field of stars."

  • Red Tholins (Payout):

"Like Pluto, Makemake appears reddish on the visible spectrum. This is because its surface is covered in tholins: organic molecules formed when ultraviolet and cosmic rays irradiate carbon-containing compounds."

Rare[]

  • Hydrostatic Equilibrium (Payout):

"A balance of opposing forces, including gravity and centrifugal force, prevent dwarf planets from either imploding or exploding. This is how they maintain a spherical or ellipsoid shape."

Epic[]

  • Speed of Light (Speed):

"The speed of light is the rate at which light and all massless particles travel through a vacuum. While it can seem instantaneous from up close, over long distances this speed limit becomes very noticeable. The theory of relativity relates to the speed of light."

  • Cosmic Gravity (Payout):

"Gravity is one of the fundamental forces and key to understanding how the universe works. Using Newton’s principles, astronomers can explain how stars and planets form, predict their mass and motion, and infer the existence of dark matter."

  • Goldilocks Zone (Discount):

"The Goldilocks Zone, also called the Habitable Zone, is the region around a star with conditions necessary for a planet that can sustain life. Planets like Earth, with surface water and breathable atmospheres, might be found in these zones in other systems."

Constellations[]

  • Scorpio (1.5x Speed):

"One of the brightest constellations in the sky, Scorpio represents a scorpion. It includes the red star Antares, sometimes called the “heart of the scorpion” because of its placement and color."

  • Sagittarius (2x Speed):

"Sagittarius, the archer, is usually represented by an image of a centaur aiming a bow and arrow. The galactic center of the Milky Way is located in Sagittarius, and the constellation contains many star clusters and nebulae."

Satellite[]

Makemake has one natural satellite, S/2015 (136472) 1 (Nickname: MK2). This moon is not present in the game.

Achievements[]

Achievement Makemake
  • Easter Parade (Rank 5):

"Makemake was discovered by astronomers shortly after Easter 2005 and codenamed Easter Bunny. Its official name comes from the creator god of the Rapa Nui people of Easter Island, maintaining a (tenuous) connection to Easter."

  • Race for Space (Rank 8):

"After Haumea’s contentious discovery by both American and Spanish astronomers, the American team decided to announce the discoveries of Makemake and Eris earlier than planned. They wanted to make sure no one else could beat them to the punch."
