The Moon is the 6th Celestial Body and the 1st Moon obtained in The Beyond Bubble Universe, which can generate Stardust. (Unlocked at Rank 2, branching off of Earth)

In-Game Description[]

"Our moon orbits the Earth and formed from debris after the young planet collided with another celestial object. It lights up our night sky and controls the ocean's tides."

Traits[]

Common[]

  • Sea of Tranquility (Speed):

"The Sea of Tranquility is a large, dark plain of basalt rock formed by volcanic eruptions. It got that name because early astronomers mistook it for an ocean. It was the landing site for Apollo 11, the first manned flight to the moon."

  • Dark Side (Payout):

"The moon is tidally locked to Earth, meaning that one side is always facing our planet while the other is turned away from us. Little was known about the heavily cratered dark side of the moon until humans were able to send spacecraft up in the 1950s."

Rare[]

  • Natural Satellites (Payout):

"Moons are defined by their orbit around larger celestial bodies. Most moons revolve around a planet, but smaller bodies can have moons, too—even particularly large asteroids."

Epic[]

  • Speed of Light (Speed):

"The speed of light is the rate at which light and all massless particles travel through a vacuum. While it can seem instantaneous from up close, over long distances this speed limit becomes very noticeable. The theory of relativity relates to the speed of light."

  • Cosmic Gravity (Payout):

"Gravity is one of the fundamental forces and key to understanding how the universe works. Using Newton’s principles, astronomers can explain how stars and planets form, predict their mass and motion, and infer the existence of dark matter."

  • Goldilocks Zone (Discount):

"The Goldilocks Zone, also called the Habitable Zone, is the region around a star with conditions necessary for a planet that can sustain life. Planets like Earth, with surface water and breathable atmospheres, might be found in these zones in other systems."

Constellations[]

  • Scorpio (1.5x Speed):

"One of the brightest constellations in the sky, Scorpio represents a scorpion. It includes the red star Antares, sometimes called the “heart of the scorpion” because of its placement and color."

  • Libra (2x Speed):

"Libra represents a pair of weighing scales. Its appearance begins the autumnal equinox, when day and night are equal lengths. Libra is home to the star system Gliese 581, considered one of the best candidates for life on other planets."

Host Planet[]

The Moon's planetary host is the Earth.

Achievements[]

Achievement Moon
  • Moonraker (Rank 5):

"The Apollo 11 astronauts famously wore Omega Speedmaster watches to the moon. In the 1970s, the company Helbros designed a special watch for lunar visitors, measuring time in “lunations” rather than hours. Alas, it didn't catch on."

  • Lunacy! (Rank 10):

"Throughout history, humans have had strange ideas about the moon. Different cultures see a face, a rabbit, or a buffalo on its surface. Gullible people are said to believe the moon is made of cheese. And some fools think the moon landing was a hoax."
