The Perseus Arm is the 28th Interstellar Object and the 2nd Milky Way Galaxy obtained in The Beyond Bubble Universe, which can generate Stardust. (Unlocked at Rank 25)
In-Game Description[]
"Named for the constellation it appears in from Earth, Perseus is one of two major arms that spiral out from the galactic core. This may surprise you: spiral arms and stars don’t travel in sync. Stars speed into an arm, get jammed up there for a time, and then move out."
Traits[]
Common[]
- Centaurus Arm (Speed) (Appears in garden):
"The second major arm, which goes by many names, originates in a warm hydrogen cloud at the core and carves a long arc to the frigid rim. As speedy stars near the core overtake slower ones, bottlenecks form. Think of a spiral arm as a very long traffic jam."
- Density Waves (Payout):
"Spiral arms are density waves, similar to ripples on a pond or sonic booms. They persist for billions of years because differences in orbital velocity constantly create bottlenecks. Like cars in a traffic jam, stars must inch through a density wave before they can exit."
Rare[]
- Milky Way (Payout):
"The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy that's rotating while speeding through space, like a hurricane crossing a dark ocean. A dense nucleus is embedded in a thin disk of gas and stars, all of which is encased in a massive sphere, or halo, of sparse stars."
Epic[]
- Cosmology (Speed):
"The scientific study of the universe asks the very biggest questions. How did it form? What came before? How does it work? Is it infinite? Will it die? All the pieces we observe—comets, moons, planets, stars, galaxies, nebulae, and even voids—provide some answers."
- Dark Matter (Payout):
"Dark matter acts like a superhero. It’s everywhere in space and yet invisible. Its gravity distorts huge objects that we can see. It can even buttress a dwarf galaxy against annihilation by a giant one. The duo of dark matter and dark energy make up 95% of the universe."
- Dark Energy (Discount):
"Little is known about dark energy, except that it’s repulsive. Opposing gravity, this strange force causes matter to scatter rather than attract, pushing our universe to expand faster and faster. Dark energy makes up 68% of the universe’s mass-energy density."
Constellations[]
- Eridanus (1.5x Speed):
"Eridanus, The River, is the longest constellation in the sky. It starts near Rigel and twists and turns all the way to its brightest star, Achernar ("River's End" in Arabic). It was named after Eridu, an early Sumerian city in the marshes of what is now southern Iraq."
- Hercules (2x Speed):
"The Roman warrior-god who defeated the Nemean lion (Leo), the Crab (Cancer), and Hydra, too, has a broad, squarish chest made of four stars, called the Keystone. Mighty Hercules is kneeling over Draco, the dragon he slew."
Astronomy Mission[]
Perseus Arm's Astronomy Mission is Galactic Bar.
"Gas and dust near the core orbits faster than matter that's further away. Over time, this discord causes a central bar made of density waves to form. The Milky Way's bar is 30,000 light years long, with one end pointing at Earth."

Near and Far 3KPC Arms[]
You unlock this after getting 50 Perseus Arms
"The Near and Far 3kpc (kiloparsec) Arms are parallel bands near the galactic bar."
Achievements[]
- Star Populations (Rank 3):
"Spiral arms feature Population I stars, which were born recently and are laced with heavy elements from the remains of dead stars. The galactic core has mostly Population II stars, which formed when the universe was young. They’re almost 100% hydrogen and helium."
- Gas Filaments (Rank 6):
"Long threads of gas weave through the spiral arms, their various patterns evoking names like the Bones, the Split, and the Radcliffe Wave. New stars form from pockets of compressed gas and, like strings of party lights, decorate the filaments."
